Cardlytics recently discovered via data review of 120 million US bank accounts a swing to multiple studio use versus one gym membership for the active people.  yoga. boot camp. pilates. yellowtheory.   they asked why and got – because it is more fun.  is choice the disrupter?  we are using tech platforms bringing the shop front to the palm and releasing the power of choice across a lot more sectors than car and room hire. we are watching one now on a project in syd.  will get back to you on results.

When market share is critical and working capital is limited, franchising can work as you loop in others equity – with cash and sweat.  Over recent years though we have unwound more franchising models than created them because cash is more of a commodity and sweat prefers team based leverage models. It has us thinking PE is punching Franchising where it hurts.
